Project support "keep cool": Salon Verde in Venice
"Escape into the Shadows" is an artistic installation of delicate mycelium structures that unfold their special effect in an interplay of light, shadow and an almost invisible, spatially stretched cable mesh. The seemingly organic shapes are made of mycelium - the fine root structures of fungi, whose interweaving is so stable that it can be used as a sustainable building material.
However, "Escape into the Shadows" sees mycelium not only as an ecological building material, but also as a mediator between nature and the built environment. Like floating clouds or murmuring swarms, the living structures form a sculptural canopy of shade - an organic response to the overheating of urban spaces.
This innovative spatial composition is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration between architecture, interior design, engineering and material innovation:
- University of Stuttgart, Institute for Building Construction, Building Technology and Design (IBK)
- HFT Stuttgart - Interior Design
- Deggendorf Institute of Technology
We are delighted to be able to support this pioneering contribution to the Salone Verde.
The exhibition can be seen at the Salone Verde art & social club in Venice until 23.11.2025.
