"SOLAR LOOPS" project support
What can solutions to the increasing overheating of our cities look like?
- Frankfurt UAS presents climate-active solar sail with energy production at the SUPERBLOOM Festival in Munich.
In view of rising temperatures and increasing heat stress in our cities, the question of how urban spaces can be designed to be climate-friendly and liveable is becoming increasingly important. The SOLAR LOOPS project from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) provides a possible answer to this - a solar-active, lightweight solar sail that will be presented at the SUPERBLOOM Festival in Munich's Olympic Park on August 30 and 31, 2025.
SOLAR LOOPS is the result of a teaching research format led by Prof. Dr. Timo Carl and Chris Charles Gallinari, M.Sc. (digital design and construction) at the interface between architecture, digital design and art.
The demonstrator combines shading, power generation through organic photovoltaics (OPV) and evaporative cooling in a spatial installation. The aim is to test and experience sustainable design solutions for more liveable cities in a changing climate.
On August 30 and 31, you can experience "SOLAR LOOPS" up close at the Superbloom Festival in Munich. Come along and experience how the fusion of architecture, art, digital design and solar technology can help shape the cities of tomorrow.
We are delighted to be able to support this forward-looking project.
