With ARALANDIA, the "Green Zoo Wuppertal 2020" has created an outstanding example of modern zoo architecture that combines species-appropriate animal husbandry and sustainable design. The aim is to recreate the animals' natural habitat as authentically as possible and offer visitors an extraordinary experience.
ARALANDIA extends over 1,100 square meters and reaches a height of up to 10 meters. The spacious enclosure offers macaws and other birds plenty of room to fly and nest. The landscaping is based on a semi-arid savannah with trees, bushes, streams and ponds. The aviary is home to various macaw species, sun parakeets, Chilean flamingos and pudus.
The freely accessible aviary allows visitors to experience the animals up close and observe their behavior intensively. The impressive arch construction of the aviary is supported by an X-TEND®stainless steel cable mesh is added. The stainless steel cable mesh provides a reliable boundary without compromising the open character of the enclosure. Finished in black, the mesh blends unobtrusively into the natural surroundings, creating an almost invisible partition.
ARALANDIA is a successful example of the combination of innovative technology, aesthetic design and ecological responsibility and offers both animals and visitors a unique experience.
