Sankt Englmar treetop walk
The new 52-metre-high forest tower rises up in the middle of the Bavarian Forest National Park. The imposing structure, which resembles a gigantic tree, stands on a single trunk made of reinforced concrete and combines adventure, nature experience and breathtaking views.
The spiral-shaped Waldwipfelpfad St. Engelmar, with a width of 2.5 meters and a length of 400 meters, leads visitors to the tower's viewing platform, which offers a panoramic view of the beauty of the Bavarian Forest. Along the way, there are numerous places to linger and enjoy the view. The descent down two large slides provides action - a highlight for young and old alike.
St. Englmar was one of the pioneers in the construction of treetop trails. The first panoramic walkway with a platform at a height of 30 meters was opened back in 2008. With the addition of the forest tower in 2020, this popular excursion destination has grown even further and now offers a unique experience in nature.
The forest tower was secured with 1,000 m² of X-TEND® stainless steel cable mesh. The delicate structure of the net ensures maximum safety without compromising the unobstructed view of the impressive natural backdrop.
Thanks to its low weight and flexibility, the X-TEND® mesh can be ideally adapted to individual railings. The transparent look combines functionality with a modern design and creates a harmonious integration into the architecture of the Waldturm.
With X-TEND®, a visit to the Waldturm is not only a safe experience, but also an aesthetically pleasing one. A perfect combination of safety, design and nature.
