Bellevue di Monaco
Bellevue di Monaco, centrally located in the Bavarian capital, is much more than just a housing project. It is a residential and cultural center for refugees and other interested parties that accompanies young people on their way to an independent life. Created during the refugee crisis in 2014, the three buildings in Müllerstrasse were saved from demolition and renovated with great voluntary commitment until 2018. Today, Bellevue di Monaco offers accommodation, advice and a diverse cultural program that serves as a central point of contact in the city.
One highlight of the project is the Kurt Landauer Platz, a sports field on the roof named after the former FC Bayern president. Landauer survived the National Socialist era in exile and symbolizes integration and cohesion. The pitch, which is 6 meters high, offers children and young people of different nationalities and cultures a free opportunity to play sport together - an impressive symbol of how sport brings people together.
The X-TEND® ensures safety on the roof sports field stainless steel cable mesh. The border and the roof net prevent balls or other objects from falling off the pitch. The flexible and transparent cable meshes adapt harmoniously to the shape of the pitch and ensure inconspicuous but robust safety.
Rooftop ball catch meshes are becoming increasingly popular in urban areas as they allow efficient use of available space. The Bellevue di Monaco shows how innovative and well thought-out architecture can create a safe place that also offers space for meeting, play and community.
