Project details

Dieter Moszeck Biorepository

The new biorepository of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, designed by Behnisch Architekten, sets new standards in cancer research as a technologically state-of-the-art and architecturally sophisticated building. Covering around 1,600 m², it combines a fully automated liquid biopsy facility for analyzing minute quantities of tumor cells with state-of-the-art building technology.

Around 1,314 m² of X-TEND Stainless Steel Cable Mesh envelops the building and serves as a filigree climbing aid for the facade greenery. With mesh widths of 140 mm and 150 mm and a cable diameter of 3.0 mm, a transparent, elegant structure is created that blends harmoniously into the architecture.

The project impressively demonstrates how cutting-edge research, architecture and sustainability can be combined to form a harmonious whole.
