Project details

Carlo Mierendorff School

The new replacement building for the Carlo Mierendorff School in Griesheim near Darmstadt - planned by Leinhäupl + Neuber GmbH - creates an inclusive all-day school on three levels, which teaches around 280 pupils in manageable learning clusters. Together with the listed existing buildings, the new building forms a lively educational ensemble instead of just a classroom building.

The S-shaped building combines the sports hall, day care centre and school building. The light-colored wooden element facade, large windows and the flowing transition between indoor and outdoor spaces create an open and inviting atmosphere.

The surrounding balconies were fitted with X-TEND® Stainless Steel Cable Mesh. This delicate, low-maintenance cable mesh solution offers a transparent railing infill that combines ETA safety and a clear view.
