The national office of the German Alpine Club was awarded the German Timber Construction Prize in 2023. This innovative project shows how existing buildings can be used sustainably: Instead of demolition, the gray energy of the concrete building was used and the building was transformed into a green role model through an intelligent timber construction and greenery. A particular highlight is the combination of modern low-tech ventilation and natural facade greenery, which gives the building sustainable and environmentally friendly functionality.
Our X-TEND® Stainless Steel Cable Mesh was used for fall protection and as railing infill. With a mesh width of 60 mm and a cable diameter of 1.5 mm, the mesh combines safety and functionality with a delicate design that emphasizes the greenery optimally supports the greenery. The successful combination of sustainability, modern architecture and innovative solutions makes the national headquarters of the German Alpine Association a pioneering project in the field of environmentally conscious construction.
