Project details

Evergreen Turley Motorlab

The Evergreen Turley Motorlab is an innovative construction project in Mannheim that has contributed to the conversion of former military buildings into a modern living and working quarter. Winner of numerous awards, it stands for a successful urban transformation that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. On the site of the former Turley Barracks, a former US military base, inner-city living and office space has been created that appeals to people of all generations - from singles and families to senior citizens. The construction project, implemented by Motor Real Estate Gesellschaft, comprises penthouses, apartments, small apartments and two-storey townhouses with private gardens. In addition, office space on the ground and second floors offers space for work and business.

A special feature of the project are the wrap-around balconies, which further enhance the living comfort. For the balustrade infills, the architects opted for our X-TEND® Stainless Steel Cable Mesh. This impresses with a combination of robustness, safety and aesthetics. With a cable thickness of just 1.5 mm and a mesh width of 40 mm, the mesh allows an almost unrestricted view and maximizes the amount of light entering through the large windows. At the same time, it ensures reliable fall protection, which is particularly important for families with children. The use of the CXS mesh type with fixed widths of 72 or 96 cm also facilitated installation and made the solution both practical and efficient.

The Evergreen Turley Motorlab impresses with its open design with a concrete skeleton in a square grid. The large window areas between the columns allow plenty of light into the interior, while the wooden facade is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. It gives the building a natural charm and also provides excellent thermal insulation.
