Sassnitz foot and cycle bridge

In the town harbor of Sassnitz, directly on the Baltic Sea, an extraordinary foot and cycle bridge attracts attention. With its bold, sweeping sweep, it overcomes a height difference of 22 meters and offers its users the feeling of standing on a balcony with a view. The elegant bridge was awarded the German Bridge Construction Prize in the "Foot and Cycle Bridges" category in 2010 and has been considered an architectural highlight ever since. The filigree construction of the bridge impresses with its lightness and transparency. X-TEND® CXS Stainless Steel Cable Mesh was used as railing infill, allowing an unobstructed view of the Baltic Sea and the harbor from every point of the bridge. With a mesh width of 40 mm and a cable diameter of 1.5 mm, they offer maximum safety with minimal visual impairment.

The X-TEND® CXS Stainless Steel Cable Mesh is durable and robust. Its high-quality manufacturing ensures high resilience and stability, even in demanding environments such as the coastal region. It is weather-resistant and can withstand the salty air and humidity of the Baltic Sea without sacrificing functionality or aesthetics. The mesh is also maintenance-free, making it an economically sustainable solution for long-term construction projects. A total of 640 m² of X-TEND® CXS mesh was installed, which blends seamlessly into the modern and open design of the bridge. This solution combines functionality, durability and aesthetics - ideal for public spaces.

Designed by the renowned architecture firm Schlaich Bergermann und Partner, the bridge combines innovation and design at the highest level. Its curved shape and transparent design make it not only a functional traffic route, but also an attraction for visitors.
