Project details

Harlech Castle footbridge

Harlech Castle, one of the most famous medieval landmarks in North Wales, was built in the late 13th century and sits majestically on a hilltop with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. Once of strategic importance as a defensive fortress, the castle is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts visitors from all over the world.

To improve accessibility to this historic site, a new 46-metre-long pedestrian bridge was built, allowing visitors to cross the steep terrain safely and comfortably. To ensure an unobstructed view and ETA safety, the railing infills were realized with X-TEND® stainless steel cable mesh. Thanks to their weather resistance, the stainless steel cable meshes are extremely durable and thus help to ensure that the bridge remains functional and aesthetically pleasing in the long term, even in Harlech's changeable weather conditions.
