Project details

In the realm of the hunters

Visitors can experience impressive animal encounters in the completely renovated Predator House at Zoo Berlin. Originally opened in 1970, the Predator House has been extensively renovated to create a contemporary and species-appropriate environment for the animals. The new Predator House is an impressive world of experience that reflects the natural habitat of its inhabitants in a very elaborate way.

Big cats such as leopards, jaguars and smaller predators have found a new home in the "realm of hunters". In total, over 240 animals from 33 species live on 4200 square meters in the building, while an additional 3700 square meters of outdoor facilities are available.

The enclosure areas have been fitted with X-TEND® stainless steel cable mesh, which not only meets high safety standards but also blends harmoniously into the surroundings. X-TEND® stainless steel cable meshes are robust, durable and the ideal choice for predator enclosures that have to meet the highest safety requirements.

The X-TEND® mesh was chosen here in black. Black makes it almost invisible. The transparent mesh thus enables an intense, almost undisturbed visitor experience. The blackened stainless steel cables and clamps blend in with the background, while tree rings were integrated into the roof mesh to protect the trees and avoid interrupting the enclosure. In total, over 2200 square meters of X-TEND® mesh was installed to secure the enclosure.
