Makkah Clock Tower
The Makkah Clock Tower is one of the most impressive buildings in the Arab world and a landmark of the pilgrimage city of Mecca. With the largest clock in the world, whose minute hand alone is 22 meters long, this mammoth project was planned by Stuttgart-based architectural firm SL Rasch. The visitor platform of the 558 meter high skyscraper offers a spectacular view - secured by the X-TEND® stainless steel cable mesh.
Due to the special location in the holy district of Mecca, the installation of the 2,500 m² X-TEND® mesh with a mesh width of 140 mm and a cable diameter of 3 mm was carried out exclusively by Muslim specialists. Complemented by the I-SYS® stainless steel cable system with cable diameters of 10 mm and 12 mm, the mesh ensures the highest safety standards without compromising the panoramic view from the platform.
The combination of innovation, technology and respect for the religious significance of the site makes the Makkah Clock Tower an exceptional project. It shows how state-of-the-art technology and cultural sensitivity can harmonize to create a building of global significance.
