Aachen University Hospital parking garage

With an area of 220,000 square meters, the new hospital parking lot at RWTH Aachen University Hospital is Europe's largest hospital building. As a maximum care center, it combines patient orientation, teaching and international research at the highest level. With 36 specialist clinics, 30 institutes and six interdisciplinary units, the university hospital offers a comprehensive medical spectrum. Every year, 50,000 patients are treated as inpatients and 200,000 as outpatients. The multi-storey parking lot in the Kullenhofstraße / Pariser Ring area is 145 meters long and 25 meters high and offers space for 1,349 vehicles on nine levels.

The parking garage was developed with a clear focus on sustainability and noise protection. The facade was soundproofed, reducing the sound pressure level by at least 20 dB.

Staircase flags with X-TEND® stainless steel cable mesh ensure the safety of stairwells. With a mesh width of 100 mm and a cable diameter of 2 mm, it protects against falls over an area of more than 300 square meters. X-TEND® fall protection meets the highest safety standards. X-TEND® as fall protection is ETA certified.
