Taronga Zoo tiger enclosure
Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia, is a landmark of the city and is known for its great animal husbandry and focus on the conservation of endangered species. Located in the Mosman district, with breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour, the zoo provides a natural environment for its animals. Since its opening in 1916, it has been home to over 5,000 animals from more than 350 species and sets global standards in species-appropriate husbandry. One example of this philosophy is the newly designed tiger enclosure.
X-TEND® stainless steel cable mesh was used for the design of this enclosure, which was perfectly tailored to the special needs of the tigers. With individually adapted mesh sizes and cable diameters, the cable mesh ensures a safe yet natural environment for the animals.
The material is particularly robust, durable and virtually maintenance-free, making it ideal for use as a zoo enclosure. Thanks to its open structure, the cable mesh blends harmoniously into the landscape and allows visitors an undisturbed view of the majestic big cats.
