Project details
The View 52° Berlin
In the middle of Berlin, directly on the River Dahme, Quartier 52° Nord combines modern living comfort with a special quality of life. The project offers barrier-free apartments for all generations and creates a harmonious combination of natural space, leisure quality and urban charm. Here, where Berlin comes to rest, a unique eight-metre-deep jetty provides a direct connection to the water. This hybrid of private balconies and access element connects apartments and bodies of water in a way that literally merges them together.
Quartier 52° Nord was awarded the German Housing Award in 2020. The jury was impressed by the harmonious overall concept of wood, metal and concrete. Particularly impressive is the large-format walkway system of the central House 2, which gives the apartments a floating lightness and also serves as a connecting path.
X-TEND® stainless steel cable mesh was used for the railing infill of the walkway system. With a mesh width of 40 mm and a robust edge cable from the I-SYS® collection with a diameter of 6 mm, they combine safety with unrestricted transparency. A total of 710 m² of mesh was installed, perfectly complementing the modern metal look of the quarter. The delicate structure of the X-TEND® mesh allows a clear view of the surroundings, both from the apartments and from the water. Robust and durable, they contribute to the aesthetics of the quarter and emphasize its innovative architecture. Quartier 52° Nord shows what modern living by the water can look like - a successful combination of urban elegance, functional design and natural proximity.
