Lion enclosure

The Thuringian Zoopark Erfurt, located in the north of the state capital Erfurt on the Red Mountain, is the largest zoological garden in Thuringia with an area of around 63 hectares and is one of the largest zoos in Germany in terms of area. Since its opening in 1959, the zoo park has been home to over 1,000 animals from around 157 different species and offers its visitors a wide range of insights into the animal world.

One example of species-appropriate husbandry at the zoo park is the lion enclosure, which has been fitted with X-TEND® stainless steel cable meshes. This innovative mesh system provides a safe yet natural environment for the animals. By individually adjusting the mesh widths and cable diameter, the enclosure is adapted to the specific needs of the lions. The robust and durable material also ensures virtually maintenance-free use, even in changing weather conditions.

Thanks to this modern enclosure design, visitors are given undisturbed and safe insights into the lives of these big cats.
