A vertical Greenery was Greenery in the courtyard of a newly constructed apartment building in a central location in the state capital. The goal was to create an urban retreat that offers a high quality of life and ecological benefits. The courtyard provides space for social interaction and personal relaxation, while also incorporating functional elements such as a roof covering an underground parking garage that serves as an emergency exit for the adjacent residential areas.
The landscape design was inspired by the architecture of Sabo Architekten. The distinctive diamond shape divides the courtyard into paved and planted areas. The Greenery climbing plants such as morning glory and wild grapevine, as well as shade-tolerant grasses and ferns. Hydrangeas and early-blooming plants provide floral highlights from spring through fall.
A key design element is the use of trellises, which serve as climbing structures and extend across multiple levels. The project also promotes biodiversity through an insect hotel and carefully selected plants.
The structural stability of structure ensured by cable bracing of the crossbeams at a height 8.5 meters to withstand wind loads. In this process, 10-mm stainless steel cables were successfully used to ensure the structural stability of the crossbeams.
