Project details
Residential and commercial building
The residential and commercial building at Seepromenade 11 in Überlingen combines history and contemporary architecture in an impressive way. Originally built as an inn in the 17th century, the building has served as a care farm, barn, stables and, from the 1950s, as a gastronomic meeting place. Between 2022 and 2024, the historic ensemble was carefully revitalized by Gaus Architekten and transformed into a modern residential and commercial building.
In the stairwell, the project relies on modern, yet transparent-looking, ETA safety elements: white FRAMEWORKX frames in combination with X-TEND Stainless Steel Cable Mesh. The cable mesh was designed with a mesh width of 60 mm and a cable diameter of 1.5 mm. This solution not only provides safety, but also blends clearly and discreetly into the light-flooded design of the stairwell - without disturbing the open spatial effect.
